In 2009 John kindly raised money for Lyme Disease Action by riding in the Etape Caledonia. This is what he said before the event.
In May 2009 I am riding the Etape Caledonia, Scotland's only closed road mass participation bike ride. The ride is 81 miles long and takes in some of Scotland's most attractive scenery. My
aim is to ride this in under 5hrs. This will be hard to achieve, there are a lot of uphill sections and over that distance the wind and weather are sure to have an effect. I've been training since November for the ride and typically spend over 12 hrs each week training.
I'm riding for Lyme Disease Action, my Girlfriend, Nicola, was diagnosed with Lyme last spring and we have been fighting the system and the disease ever since.
LDA will use the money to purchase exhibition stands and a laptop. This will enable the charity to have a more significant presence at local shows and other events.
My aim is to raise £1000 for LDA, It would be great if you could sponsor me and help out the work of LDA. Updates on my training and preparation can be found at http://lyme-cycle.blogspot.com
If you are a UK taxpayer, and you want your donation to mean more with the Gift Aid scheme (meaning the taxman will add around 28p to every £1 you donate) please email me your full address details, and I'll make the magic happen!"
Many Thanks
John Hunter
John raised £760 before Gift Aid, so after Gift Aid this will be very close to his target of £1000
Many thanks from all at LDA.
