What happens after I have written to or visited my MP?

With regard to letters, most MPs will reply to constituents within about three weeks or so. An email is not given particular priority over letters.

If an MP has proceeded to write to the Secretary of State on your behalf, then a ministerial response may well take more time. This will almost certainly be a response that is supplied to all MPs who ask for this information at this time. Therefore, many people will receive this response, forwarded to them via their MPs.

We would like to know that you have received a ministerial response. Please see Please tell us how you got on where we shall post any ministerial response, so not everyone need copy it to us.

If your MP was/is sympathetic please let us know about this and any other matters related to lobbying your MP by going to ‘Please tell us how you got on’ section. We have already followed up all MPs you told us were interested in the 2006/07 session and given them more information. Lyme Disease Action is already actively lobbying in the 2007/08 session, please watch this website for further news.

If your MP is interested and wishes to know more, please let us know by going to our ‘Please tell us how you got on’ section. It may be possible that he or she may be able to join with other MPs who are like-minded and this would give ‘Lobby for Lyme’ stronger support.

It will take us a while to build up a level of awareness amongst MPs, not only of the problems we face on a daily basis, but the potential of Lyme disease to become a major public health concern. The lobbying process will almost certainly proceed for quite some time into the future. Change will not happen overnight.
