Why Lobby for Lyme ?

On behalf of all people affected by Lyme disease, also known as Lyme borreliosis, and associated tick-borne diseases in the United Kingdom, Lyme Disease Action is undertaking a parliamentary lobby 'Lobby for Lyme' to raise awareness of Lyme disease and the issues surrounding it with our democratic representatives.

'Lobby for Lyme' needs the support of you, the people with Lyme and those that care about them.

Let us make our voices heard!

We need to act now, not only to obtain diagnosis and appropriate treatment for ourselves, but so that people in the future do not have to suffer as today’s victims do.

We need you to write to your MP or to visit your MP’s surgery with your story.

Towards the end of your letter, we need you to make the following requests:

Ask your MP to write to the Secretary of State for Health to find out for you what is being done to address patient’s concerns about diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease.
Please do not forget to finish your letter by requesting that your MP sign EDM 958

It may help you to focus your letter by saying that you support Lyme Disease Action’s ‘Ten Steps to better control of Lyme disease’ a leaflet which is available as a PDF on our website or from our PO Box.

We are asking all Lyme-affected people in the UK to participate in this parliamentary lobby. The more people who participate by writing a letter, the stronger our voice becomes.

We at Lyme Disease Action shall be lobbying the Government and Westminster MPs about our demands on behalf of patients. These can be seen on our website in the section Requires Government Action. All MPs who sign the Early Day Motion (EDM) will be followed up and given further information about Lyme.

Whether you have had a clinical diagnosis, a confirmed laboratory diagnosis or have been given this diagnosis in some other way, evidence from your stories is compelling. If, regardless of your laboratory test status, you find you are much better on antibiotic treatment, please include that in your letter. It all forms part of the bigger picture of Lyme and tick-borne diseases in the UK.
