Stephanie Woodcock of Lyme Disease Action and Wendy Fox of Bada-uk gave a wide-ranging interview about Lyme disease today on Insight Radio. DJ Simon Pauley asked about the illness, the typical symptoms, where and how you can be bitten and tips for tick-removal.
He also asked about how many cases there are in the country and up to date figures for the last (complete) year, i.e. 2007 show that confirmed cases in England and Wales provisionally stand at just short of 800. Again an increase on the previous year and Stephanie explained that it is thought that there are many more cases than this which go undetected. LDA are contacted by a constant stream of people with symptoms suggestive of Lyme and these people have great trouble with being diagnosed and treated.
Wendy Fox, who unfortunately has been severely affected by Lyme disease, gave her personal insight into her journey with the multiple symptoms and extremely disabling effects of Lyme disease. Thank you Insight Radio for picking up on the Lyme disease story.
