Death Of Jan Linton

Lyme Disease Action was saddened to note the following story reported in the press on 11th April 2008. It appears unfortunately Miss Linton was one of a relatively small percentage of Lyme disease victims who become very neurologically affected by the infection. In her case this appears to have happened quite quickly and this led to her developing what were reported to be the paranoid delusions which caused her death. Whilst all Lyme disease cases manifest the illness slightly differently, it is quite unusual to be quite so mentally affected within just a few months of initial infection. However, in a few worrying cases that we are aware of this does appear to happen. Not enough is known about Lyme disease to be certain exactly what percentage of people will be affected in this way.
