Lyme disease is endemic in the UK, recognised cases are increasing and yet there are large uncertainties in both diagnosis and treatment. Every year since 2001 Lyme Disease Action has held a conference allowing researchers and clinicians from around the world to share their expertise with medical practitioners, patients and carers.
The 2009 conference throws the spotlight on difficulties facing GPs who are often at the front line dealing with a little known disease. The controversial topics of long term treatment and antimicrobial resistance will be discussed, together with issues in testing for the disease and the difficulties with clinical guidelines used in the UK. A detailed programme will be announced shortly on this page.

The conference will be based at John Foster Hall, Leicester University, Manor Road, LE2 2LG.
John Foster Hall is a new purpose built conference facility, set in 40 acres of landscaped grounds,
including the
botanical gardens, creating a green and relaxing setting for the conference.
There will be a reception and conference dinner on the Thursday evening. (Optional)

The conference fee is £35 which includes coffee, lunch, tea and conference papers.
Medical students, foundation doctors and GP Registrars will have ALL of their £35 conference fee refunded on the day on production of their NHS ID card but must register for this refund when booking.
CPD accreditation applied for. Previous conferences were granted CPD accreditation.
