This is the poster we took to the NordTick 2026 conference in Sweden.
We wanted to point out that we need to re-think what is now called Post Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome because at the moment it is not getting the research it needs.
If you have continuing symptoms after Lyme disease and just non-specific, symptoms continuing like pain, fatigue, tingling in hands or feet, etc. then a doctor won’t know what to do. These are “subjective” symptoms – you feel them but there is nothing that can be measured by a doctor.
BUT if you had Lyme arthritis, and after your treatment your knee stays very swollen, then you will be believed, because your symptom is visible – what they call “objective”. They have found that they can treat this with tried and trusted medicines that rheumatologists use.
There were a few interesting discussions about the poster, but did any conference delegates consider it seriously?
We do need researchers to investigate!
