LDA was invited to speak at the 2025 European Tick-Borne Conference in March and our chair, Stella Huyshe-Shires, travelled to Paris to give a talk titled “The View from a Patient Organisation”.
She decided she couldn’t speak for all patient organisations, as we vary and have faced different histories in different countries, some patient groups being more successful than LDA in engaging with their country’s health professionals. So Stella concentrated on LDA’s view. She said after presenting her talk
“Our view of what we face now is coloured by what we have been through since the charity was formed more than 20 years ago. It has been a long haul and we have had more in-depth conversations with European doctors and researchers, than those in the UK. So it was good to renew those contacts in Paris. Who knows what will come of it all, but the only way is forward!”
ETBD has made some of the presentations available on their website, but not the words to accompany them. Stella has now recorded her presentation, explaining what she said at the conference while going through her slides. This presentation can be viewed on YouTube: video approx 17 minutes.
