Primary Care exhibition

Lyme Disease Action has just spent a very busy and successful couple of days, taking part in the Primary Care and Public Health event at the NEC in Birmingham. The event, in its 27th year, is considered to be the UK’s leading exhibition and conference event for a wide range of Primary Care and Public Health professionals.

Spot us in the middle.

We were able to engage directly with GPs, clinical community nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, and many other professionals and their representatives. Further opportunities arose for ‘networking’ with other patient charities, such as MND Association, Action on Pain, Brain & Spine Foundation, National Counselling Society, and a Nursing Journal has commissioned LDA to write an article!

As always there was a lot of interest in LDA’s work on Lyme’s “unknowns”, and the free RCGP e-learning module was well received too, especially when the difficulties in diagnosing and treating Lyme were explained.

Phials containing live ticks of varying size were an added attraction, and the size of the nymphs was quite a shock to some as many are only used to seeing adult ticks on their pets. Several people were given information to help with individual cases.

LDA had an excellent, professional exhibition stand with a lot of posters and materials. We are able to take part in these events only because of the efforts of our magnificent fundraisers and your continuing support. Please give, if you feel able: every contribution enables us to go on raising awareness, advocating for and supporting patients, as well as prompting and contributing to research.

Sponsor one of our fundraisers and boost their spirits too – we have runners and cyclists putting in immense efforts to help us all!
